Cross-Connection Control and Backflow Prevention
RCSD’s Cross-Connection Control Program helps protect the public water supply from contamination caused by backflow.
Backflow can occur when changes in water pressure cause water to flow in the opposite direction, potentially allowing contaminants to enter the drinking water system. To help prevent this, certain properties are required to install, maintain, and annually test an approved backflow prevention assembly.
Property owners are responsible for ensuring their backflow prevention assemblies remain accessible, in good working condition, and are tested by a certified backflow prevention assembly tester within the required timeframe.
